Things To Do This Weekend Besides THON 2025

It’s almost time, folks.

THON Weekend is one of the biggest events at Penn State, but if you’re looking for a break from the Bryce Jordan Center or just want to explore more of what State College has to offer, there are plenty of activities this weekend to check out.

Whether you’re into sports, movies, puzzles, or art, here are some fun events happening around Happy Valley this weekend.

Penn State Wrestling vs. American: Friday, February 21

Penn State wrestling will go head-to-head with American University at 7 p.m. on Friday at Rec Hall. Support the Nittany Lions and experience the energy of one of Penn State’s favorite sports traditions. You can purchase tickets on Ticketmaster.

Penn State Women’s Gymnastics vs. Ohio State: Saturday, February 22

Penn State women’s gymnastics takes on Ohio State at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Rec Hall. The meet will recognize the seniors for their dedication and contributions to the program.

Come out to celebrate the seniors’ achievements and cheer on the team as they face a Big Ten rival. Admission is free, so bring your friends and show some Penn State pride.

Chess Club: Saturday, February 22

Test your strategic skills at the walk-in Chess Club at the Bellefonte Library. Open to all ages and skill levels, this is a great way to challenge yourself or learn a new game. The club meets from 10 a.m. to noon.

Oreo Taste Test Challenge: Saturday, February 22

Think you can rank Oreo flavors from best to worst? Head over to the Centre Hall Area Branch Library to taste a variety of different flavors and see which one comes out on top. Milk is included, so bring your sweet tooth! The fun starts at noon on Saturday.

Happy Valley Puzzle Swap & Casual Puzzling: Saturday, February 22

Swap your gently used jigsaw puzzles or simply enjoy casual puzzling with friends at the Schlow Centre Region Library. For a fun event perfect for puzzle lovers, stop by the community room from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition): Saturday, February 22

Journey back to Middle-earth with a screening of The Lord of the Rings Two Towers at the Friedman Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Saturday. If you’re in the mood for a fun movie night, this is the way to do it. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students. Purchase tickets online here!

Drop-In Guided Tour: Art & Society: Sunday, February 23

Explore the Palmer Museum of Art with a drop-in guided tour at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Learn about the connections between art and society while checking out the museum’s amazing pieces.
