State College Once Again Named ‘City Of THON’

State College Borough Mayor Ezra Nanes has once again renamed State College the “City of THON” for the 46 hours dancers will stand to raise as much money as possible For The Kids.

“Why do we do this?” Nanes said on the stage at THON. “We are here for you and we are so proud of each and every one of you… This entire community is here around you, cheering you on, supporting you.

This is the 11th time that State College has changed its name for THON Weekend. The tradition first came from former Mayor Elizabeth Goreham in 2015.

THON Weekend runs from Friday through Sunday, with dancers trying to break last year’s $16,955,683.63 total.
