My Hero Zero Rocks BJC Stage At THON 2025

My Hero Zero took the THON stage bright and early Saturday morning.
The local State College cover band is led by the musical duo Jason Olcese and Eric Damiano. Known for their lively, upbeat rendition of classic pop songs, the band rocked the Bryce Jordan Center for the better part of an hour.
Who needs a morning cup of coffee when they have My Hero Zero’s rendition of “Everytime We Touch,” by Cascada? This electric opening song set the tone for the entire performance, raising the energy of the entire BJC crowd.

Following this, Olcese thanked THON for the opportunity to perform on stage for such an important cause, and grabbed the guitar to do a moving, acoustic version of “I Want You to Stay.”
“I say we turn it up now,” Olcese said as he ditched the guitar and led the crowd in a mash-up of “Drag Me Down” from One Direction, and DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win” — Ludicrous rap included.
With trumpets blaring, “Sweet Caroline” was played next. The entire BJC sang their hearts out, with the letters in the stands swaying on beat to the iconic Neil Diamond lyrics.

In true Penn State fashion, the band led the crowd in singing “Zombie Nation” and ended the chant with a classic Nittany Lion roar. Even in the trenches of winter, this performance had us reminiscing on the warm days in Beaver Stadium.
Guitarist Mike Lee was then introduced, where he played a cover of “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield with Damiano on vocals. Major THON 2023 flashbacks.
Then, it was time to stretch those arms to Damiano’s cover of Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!” Volunteers, dancers, and even the fraternity brothers in the stands could not resist dancing along to this bop.
Damiano handed the mic off to Olcese to perform a crowd favorite, “Dancing Queen.” Everyone in the BJC felt like a true dancing queen as Olcese serenaded us with this ABBA classic.
Then, the band threw it back old school with their cover of “Living On A Prayer” and the Beatles “Twist and Shout.” This was followed by a mash-up of “Let’s Get It Started” by the Black Eyed Peas and “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé.
“THON, the real ones feel all of their feelings,” Olcese said to the crowd as he and Damiano led the BJC in singing “I Want That Way” from the Backstreet Boys. Damiano’s high note at the end of the song definitely had the BJC in their feels.
Following this, the crowd sang “Yeehoo” in response to the band’s “Weehoo” during their cover of Gwen Stefani’s Sweet Escape. “Pursuit of Happiness” by Kid Cudi was up next, followed by “Shots” and then ABBA’s “Gimme Gimme.”
My Hero Zero’s drummer Ethan Stewart stole the spotlight during the band’s bumping cover of “Umbrella” by Rihanna and “Complicated” by Avril Lavinge.
“It’s always Taylor Swift…always,” Damiano said as the band broke into “We Are Never Getting Back Together.” The heartbreak continued with a passionate performance of “Since You’ve Been Gone.” If your situationship left you on read before THON Weekend, this was the perfect opportunity to get your emotions out.
Stewart then performed a drum solo of the “Let’s Go State” chant, which transitioned into “Shout” by the Isley Brothers, with jazz hands frantically waving throughout the BJC.
“We are inspired by what you do this weekend, so now let’s sing this last song together,” Olcese shouted as he led the crowd in the band’s final song of the morning, “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls.
