[Photo Story] THON 2025 Pep Rally Exhilarates At-Capacity BJC Crowd

Another THON Pep Rally has come and gone.

Before the pep rally, THON announced on stage that the Bryce Jordan Center reached maximum capacity, and no more spectators were allowed to enter the building. So, in case you didn’t get to experience the THON 2025 Pep Rally, our photographers were on the floor of the sold-out event to document it in its entirety.

After winning the national championship in December, women’s volleyball brought a second honor back to Rec Hall when it was crowned the pep rally champion by unanimous decision.

The Blue Band, the Color Guard, and Blue Saphire kicked off the THON 2025 Pep Rally with an “FTK” instead of a “We Are” chant. The Nittany Lion and the cheerleaders came on stage to pump up the crowd and the Nittany Lion did 46 one-armed pushups.

The event’s emcees were former Penn State football players Landon Tengwall and Big Ten Championship MVP Trace McSorley.

President Neeli Bendapudi appeared on stage this year and gave a brief speech, and Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Pat Kraft followed with his encouraging message.

Last year’s pep rally winners, men’s gymnastics, took the stage first and put on an impressive dance to “Sweet Escape” by Gwen Stefani. The defending champs put on another championship-worthy performance.

Who knew golfers could dance? Men’s golf may not consist of the most gifted athletes out there, but those guys know how to boogie, even in golf attire.

Women’s lacrosse left Panzer Stadium and wound up in the Bryce Jordan Center. Their performance was short but they still brought the moves.

Men’s soccer came out in red and yellow hoodies and performed to “Bye Bye Bye” by NSYNC. One of the players was launched in the air as the group was in sync the entire performance.

A mid-pep rally line dance led into the field hockey team taking the stage.

Football came out sporting white and grey military pants and their away jerseys. Jon Mitchell and Corey Smith did front flips, and Dejuan Lane had a dance solo at the end. Jordan Stout and Saquon Barkley also made virtual appearances on the jumbotron.

It’s much easier to dance when you’re not on ice skates. Just ask women’s hockey.

Men’s lacrosse came out in sweats and stripped down to tanktops for their performance of “Crazy In Love” by Beyonce, featuring Jay-Z.

Caroline Jurevicius came out first to represent the 2024 national championship women’s volleyball team and introduced head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley, who recently beat breast cancer.

The squad performed to “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, and it was electric.

The two finalists were men’s golf and women’s volleyball. Each did a second performance to win over the judges.

But in the end, it was women’s volleyball that won over the hearts of the judges and was named the winner of the THON 2025 Pep Rally. THON also hit over 100% of its pep rally goal. The total raised equated to 112 days of social work!
