THON 2025 Day One Recap

Well, folks, that’s one down.

Friday afternoon and evening of THON 2025, brought plenty of action and excitement. Of course, not everyone got into the Bryce Jordan Center on Friday, so we took the liberty of putting together everything you missed.

We missed you guys just as much as you missed us, folks.

Not One, But Two Fire Alarms

Just a few minutes into THON 2025, flashing lights and a voice from the heavens told attendees at THON there was a fire emergency and they had to leave. Of course, literally nobody left the Bryce Jordan Center. After each event, folks were told they didn’t actually have to leave.

The event was an accident, THON told Onward State via a statement later that evening. THON reported no injuries or accidents during the event.

The Fray Takes Over The BJC

Man, that was awesome!

The Fray, that 2000s pop rock band that you used to listen to with your older brother, made an appearance as this year’s national headliner. Needless to say, The Fray killed.

The band played all its hits, including “Young Found Me” and “How To Save A Life.” The lead singer and guitarist, Joe King, even waded into the crowd for “Hurricane,” getting a little moist along the way.

Dancers Enter Via Human Tunnel

It’s a proud THON tradition: the human tunnel.

Before dancers began their 46-hour quest, they marched from Holuba Hall to the Bryce Jordan Center as their friends and fellow Penn Staters cheered them on. Let’s hope those smiles are still as big now as they were at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Line Dance Makes Its Debut

Once again, the BJC is BOOMIN’!

The Line Dance made its 2025 debut on Friday, featuring some pretty sweet references. From Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” to the Costco guys, the Line Dance played all the hits.
