THON 2025 Pep Rally Superlatives

Women’s volleyball took home the gold at the THON 2025 Pep Rally, however, the other teams still had some pretty noteworthy and ~superlative-worthy~ performances. From matching fits to thrilling stunts to kick lines, these teams kept the BJC alive and entertained throughout the show.
In typical Onward State fashion, we broke down the best and the worst of each team’s performance.
The Human Globe Award: Men’s Gymnastics

What can’t these lads do?
Bodies were soaring, muscles were flexing, and, oh yeah, they literally formed a sphere by connecting their bodies to one another. Not sure how the physics of it works, but boy, was that a sight for sore eyes.
‘The Rest Is Still Unwritten’ Award For Having A Short Routine: Women’s Soccer

Although they had a really good mashup, song choice, and some solid moves, women’s soccer’s performance was gone with a blink of an eye. “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield was a great pick, but they could’ve delivered a longer performance.
The First Loser Award: Men’s Golf

Men’s golf had a few cool moments and sequences, which explains why they were a finalist, however, they still lost — rightfully so. Although they taught the BJC how to Dougie, they should probably practice what they preach to secure the dub next year.
The ‘Wicked’ Good Choreo Award: Women’s Lacrosse

The women’s lacrosse team delivered an energy-packed and fun performance to “Dancing Through Life” from the Oscar-nominated movie “Wicked.” No notes, ladies.
The Condiments Award: Men’s Soccer

With stunts and airborne teammates, men’s soccer’s routine was pretty electric. But, what’s with the red and yellow color scheme? It’s giving ketchup and mustard — perfect for a glizzy but not for a competition.
The Nostalgia Award: Field Hockey

Bringing back throwbacks from High School Musical and Hannah Montana, field hockey unlocked every crowd member’s inner child. So, naturally, they get extra points for making the BJC feel nostalgic and giddy over Disney Channel classics.
The Invisible Legs Award: Football

When the football players stepped on the stage, many were confused as to where their legs went. After rubbing our eyes a few times, we realized they actually were just wearing camo, which explains why we couldn’t see the bottom halves of their bodies.
Year after year, football continues to be the best at just simply jumping and moving around the stage in a chaotic manner. Though they had a cool flip or two, they simply just lacked effort. Luckily, the team is much better on the field than on the dance floor.
The Better On Ice Award: Women’s Ice Hockey

Dancing to iconic throwbacks, such as “Can’t Touch This” by MC Hammer, women’s ice hockey went old school during this year’s Pep Rally. In reality, though, they weren’t very synched and some of the timing was off. Maybe just stick to what you do best on the ice.
The Thirst Trap Award: Men’s Lacrosse

Right when they walked onto the THON stage, these heartthrobs tore off their hoodies, revealing their matching wife beaters underneath. Sure, the performance was a fun watch, but for an event with dozens of kids watching, it was definitely a choice. Save the thirst traps for OnlyFans, men’s lax.
The ‘You Can’t Lose Award’: Women’s Volleyball

First the national championship, now this? For women’s volleyball, securing wins comes easy, so it only made sense that the best team on campus won. Between the matching jerseys, cowboy hats, and ending with a kick line, these girls sure know how to blow the competition out of the water.
The ‘Golden Child’ Award: Lionettes

Let’s face it. The Lionettes can do literally anything, and they’ll get a round of applause. Just like the kid that does no wrong in their parents’ eyes.
