Velveeta Performs For Late-Night Crowd At THON 2025

State College’s very own party band, Velveeta, got the Bryce Jordan Center rocking early Sunday morning.

The band jumped right into its set with classic 80s hits. The crowd suddenly woke up to “Jump” by Van Halen. This was followed by “What I Like About You” by The Romantics, and it had everyone singing at the top of their lungs.

“Jesse’s Girl” by Rick Springfield was next, and unsurprisingly, the Bryce Jordan Center got even louder. Velveeta followed up the classics with another banger, “Down Under” by Men at Work. People settled down a little, but the energy was definitely present, especially for it being around 2:20 a.m.

“867-5309/Jenny” by Tommy Tutone followed, bringing any lost life right back into the crowd. The whole Bryce Jordan Center broke out in unison for an “867-5309” chant.

Continuing on the 80s trend, Velveeta performed its rendition of “Any Way You Want It” by Journey, and the crowd was definitely into it. It followed it up with “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins.

Everyone in the BJC got loud again when the band played “You Make My Dreams (Come True)” by Daryl Hall & John Oates, and they got even louder when Velveeta played “Sweet Caroline.”

It’s hard to keep the energy as high as it was during “Sweet Caroline,” but “Love Shack” by The B-52’s was next, and the Bryce Jordan Center approved of that choice.

The crowd remained involved as “The Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats and “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder played with a good amount of people singing along. “I’m a Believer” by The Monkees and “American Girl” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers rejuvenated the energy in the late-night crowd, setting up the closing song.

The lights dimmed and “Come On Eileen” by Dexys Midnight Runners played over the speakers. Everyone in the Bryce Jordan Center sang their hearts out, closing out an amazing Velveeta set at THON 2025.
