Penn State Alum Dan Bongino Named FBI Deputy Director

Penn State alum Dan Bongino will serve as the next FBI deputy director, President Donald Trump announced Sunday. The media personality and former law enforcement officer will be second-in-command to Director Kash Patel.

After graduating from Queens College in New York in 1997 with a psychology degree and again in 2002, Bongino pursued an MBA from Penn State, graduating in 2010.

Bongino began his career as a New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer from 1995 to 1999 before serving as a U.S. Secret Service agent from 1999 to 2011, protecting Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Later, he ran for Congress three times as a Republican but was unsuccessful.

Aside from his government work, Bongino created his podcast and radio show “The Dan Bongino Show,” in 2017. So far, Bongino has produced nine seasons along with 640 episodes and amassed over two million followers on Instagram alone.

Bongino has been a guest host for both the Sean Hannity and Mark Levin radio shows. He sometimes fills in on radio shows in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, along with his frequent appearances on Fox News’ opinion programming and on the conspiracy theory website, InfoWars.

Within the last decade, Bongino published three books: “Life Inside the Bubble” and “The Golden Age Of Republican Politics,” in 2013, “The Fight: A Secret Service Agent’s Inside Account of Security Failings and the Political Machine,” in 2016, and New York Times bestseller “The Failed Takedown of President Donald Trump by the Swamp” in 2019. In December 2019, Bongino launched his website “Bongino Report,” after criticizing Drudge Report for “abandoning” Trump supporters.

Last Friday, Bongino released his most recent episode, “The Golden Age Of Republican Politics,” celebrating the confirmation of his new boss Patel, saying, “We got Kash through, so now you are going to see what real change is like.” On February 20, the Senate confirmed Patel in a 51–49 vote.

On Sunday night, Trump posted to Truth Social praising Bongino for being a patriot with “incredible love and passion for our Country, underlining his extensive background in law enforcement. He noted that Bongino “is willing and prepared to give up” his show “in order to serve.”
