The Post-THON Snooze: An Ode To The Best Sleep Of My Life

I want to start out by saying congratulations to all the dancers and people in the stands who made it the full 46 hours of THON 2025 without sleeping. As one of those people, I now have a new appreciation for nights when I only get four hours of sleep.
With that being said, it’s safe to say that I did not get four hours of sleep Sunday night after THON. I left the Bryce Jordan Center at around 5:15 p.m., with only two things on my mind: sleep and food. Well, the food part didn’t go great, and I just fell asleep the second I got out of the shower.
I went into the slumber assuming I would have crazy dreams, as I was already hallucinating while awake, but I surprisingly did not. I think my mind just went blank for the 18 hours straight that I lay motionless in my bed. Yes, you read that right, I slept for 18 hours after THON.
I put my head down at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday and didn’t wake up until 12:30 p.m. the following day. For those wondering, yes, that means I did not make it to class. Sorry, mom.
While I don’t remember what happened during those 18 hours, I can tell you it was some of the best 18 hours of my life. My mind was blank, my body was resting, and my feet were off the ground — what more could I ask for?
After waking up, I was still tired. Actually, as I’m writing this on Tuesday, my body is still not fully rested. With State Patty’s rapidly approaching and spring break right after that, there’s a chance I won’t get caught up on sleep for a long time.
With that being said, the experience of THON and the memories I have already forgotten from those 46 hours will last me a lifetime. I don’t recommend anyone staying up for 46 hours without a reason. But, if you get a chance to do it for a good cause, go for it. Who knows, you might just get the best sleep of your life.
