Former Penn State Women’s Volleyball Outside Hitter Alexa Markley Transfers To Washington

Former Penn State women’s volleyball outside hitter Alexa Markley will transfer to Washington next season, she announced Wednesday.

Markley spent three seasons with the Nittany Lions, earning two Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards and a spot on the 2022 Big Ten All-Freshman Team. In 2023, she recorded 118 kills, 23 blocks, 13 digs, and two aces in 58 sets.

Before making her mark at Penn State, Markely had an impressive high school volleyball career. She was a two-time AVCA All-American, earning first-team honors in 2021 and second-team recognition in 2020, and a PrepVolleyball All-American. Markley was named as the Best Player in Georgia by MaxPreps and received two first-team all-state honors. She was selected to the 2021 Under Armor All-American team and made the JVA All-National Team.
