JJ Wiebusch’s Game-Winning Overtime Goal Earns No. 1 Play On SportsCenter

Penn State men’s hockey forward JJ Wiebusch is turning heads all over the sports world.

After going through his own legs to net the overtime game winner in a 6-5 win over Michigan in the first game of the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, Wiebusch’s goal landed at No. 1 in the SportsCenter Top 10.

The goal was Wiebusch’s third of the game and put Penn State up 1-0 in the three-game series. Aiden Fink also picked up his fourth assist of the night on the goal.

It was the first career multi-goal game for Wiebusch, a freshman from Verona, Wisconsin, who now has five goals in five games against the Wolverines this season.

The second game of the series between the No. 5 seed Nittany Lions and No. 4 seed Michigan is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 8. The tilt will be streamed on BTN+.
