Report: Former Penn State Football Offensive Lineman Will Fries Signs With Minnesota Vikings

Former Penn State football offensive lineman Will Fries signed with the Minnesota Vikings on a five-year contract worth up to $88 million, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Fries played for the Nittany Lions from 2016 to 2020. During his time at Penn State, he had 42 starts where he played right tackle for 26 games, nine at left tackle, six at right guard, and one at left guard. In the process, he was named to the All-Big Ten second team and earned Penn State’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award during his final season with the Nittany Lions.

He declared for the 2021 NFL Draft and was selected in the seventh round by the Indianapolis Colts. During his time with the Colts, he started as a backup before earning the starting position in the 2022 season. He started in all 17 games during the 2023 season before suffering a fractured tibia in Week 5 of the 2024 season that sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

Fries will look to reestablish his form for a Vikings team that looks to recover from last year’s playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams after having a 14-3 record.
