Naren & Judy Gursahaney Commit $3 Million To Beaver Stadium Renovations & Invent Penn State

Penn State Board of Trustees member Naren Gursahaney and his wife, Judy Gursahaney, have donated $3 million toward Beaver Stadium renovations and Invent Penn State, the university announced Tuesday.

The Gursahaneys pledged $2.5 million to Invent Penn State, which funds Penn State’s entrepreneurship opportunities. Of that total, $2 million comes as an estate pledge while another $500,000 was directed toward specific areas. $250,000 will help launch the Penn State Investor Network, $125,000 will expand the Summer Founders Program, and $125,000 will support the Erickson Discovery Grants.

“Naren’s own career as a visionary business leader and a dedicated Penn Stater embodies what we hope for all our graduates — that they make a meaningful impact in the world and give back to their alma mater,” President Neeli Bendapudi said. “We are profoundly grateful to the Gursahaneys for their generosity, which will strengthen both our research enterprise and our athletics programs.”

Another $500,000 from the Gursahaneys will go toward Beaver Stadium renovations, making a dent into the $700 million total approved by the Board of Trustees in May. Most recently, the board accepted a proposal for the naming of West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium, which raised $50 million.

“Naren and Judy’s leadership and dedication to Penn State continue to make a lasting impact, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity,” Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Patrick Kraft said. “Their support will strengthen the foundation of Penn State Athletics for generations to come.”

Naren Gursahaney, who graduated from Penn State in 1983 with an engineering degree, serves as a director for NextEra Energy, an adviser for Berwind Corp., and a trustee for Penn State. Naren Gursahaney is also a recipient of Penn State’s Outstanding Engineering Alumni, Alumni Fellow, and Distinguished Alumni awards.
