Bring Dollar Dog Night To The White Out: An Open Letter To Penn State Football

Dollar Dog Night has become a beloved tradition in Happy Valley. Fans pack into Medlar Field at Lubrano Park every Tuesday to enjoy $1 hot dogs while cheering on Penn State baseball.

But why stop at baseball? It’s time for Penn State to bring Dollar Dog Night to the Greatest Show in College Sports. There’s no better stage, no better atmosphere, and no better fans in the world that deserve this promotion.

Let’s face it, with FOX controlling the broadcasting rights, Penn State can’t always make the White Out its most competitive home game. Adding Dollar Dog Night would bring the White Out in Happy Valley to a whole new level, regardless of the competition.

One hundred and ten thousand fans. $1 hot dogs. Yes, it would be absolute chaos. The concourse of Beaver Stadium would turn into World War III, but for one night, it’s worth it.

Hot dogs are the perfect football food. They’re delicious, easy to hold, and exactly what 110,000 fans want in the middle of a cold White Out game. You don’t need utensils, they’re (usually) not messy, and the easiest food to wolf down mid-game.

Back in 2013, the Cleveland Indians held a Dollar Dog Night where they sold a record 66,762 hot dogs during the promotion. Penn State fans would shatter that record.

One night at Beaver Stadium could set off a chain reaction, giving college football fans all over America $1 dogs. So, let’s give it a try and see just how many hot dogs 110,000 fans in Beaver Stadium can consume in one White Out.
