Penn State To Only Offer Football Student Tickets To Commonwealth Campuses Because It Feels Bad

Penn State Athletics will only sell 2025 Penn State football student season tickets to Commonwealth Campus students, the university said in a release Tuesday.

The move comes after Penn State announced the possible closures of the Beaver, DuBois, Greater Allegheny, Fayette, Hazleton, Mont Alto, New Kensington, Schuykill, Shenango, Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and York campuses in late February in response to budget deficits.

“We understand the harsh reality of the possible closures and want to make amends to the students who have been put through emotional turmoil due to the ongoing situation,” a Penn State Athletics spokesperson told Onward State on Tuesday morning. “So, after much thought and consideration, we will only be setting up student season ticket requests and purchases to students currently enrolled and enrolled for the 2025-26 academic year in the 12 campuses that have a chance of shutting down.”

The university spokesperson also stated that while they know the effect the decision will have on the University Park student body, they still chose to roll with it because of their feeling of responsibility for some Commonwealth Campuses shutting down.

“We feel bad,” they said. “It’s not our fault that we’re empaths. University Park students will just have to deal with it.”

However, transportation will not be supplied by the university to Commonwealth Campus students to get to the games due to budget cuts.

“At the end of the day, this is just the reality of it, and there’s zero chance we go back on this no matter how much the University Park students protest,” the spokesperson said. “Don’t shoot the messenger. I just work here, man.”

Commonwealth Campus students will be able to request season tickets in mid-June via LionPath.
