Power Ranking Penn State Baseball Walk-Up Songs

Everybody knows a player’s walk-up song is the most essential component of an at-bat. As a hitter, a good tune blasting from the speakers while you stride to the plate can increase your aura by an immeasurable amount.

Ranging from hype anthems to nostalgic throwbacks, the Penn State baseball roster boasts quite a diverse soundtrack, so of course, we ranked them.

Let’s take a look at the list.

39. Jack Messina: ‘Sweetness’ by Jimmy Eat World

A lot of guitar. Unfortunately, it doesn’t translate to a lot of hype.

38. Jesse Jaconski: ‘Warning’ by Morgan Wallen

Morgan Wallen has a ton of great songs. This is not one of them.

37. Matt Morash: ‘Rooster’ by Alice In Chains

Another heavy guitar presence, but just a tad too slow for my liking.

36. Ben DeMell: ‘Real Gone’ by Sheryl Crow

If one wanted to pick a song from Cars, Life Is A Highway was right there…

35. Sean Williams: ‘Brand New Man’ by Brooks & Dunn

The generic country songs are falling flat so far.

34. Cohl Mercado: ‘Super Freak’ by Rick James

This isn’t a bad song at all. It’s just basic.

33. Zach Mizrahi: ‘Afraid To Feel’ by LF System

House music for a walk-up song? Points for creativity, I suppose.

32. Dimond Loosli: ‘Attention Span’ by Rebelution

This song is majorly lacking in energy. It’s too laid-back.

31. Joey DeMucci: ‘Take You There’ by Sean Kingston

Sean Kingston has better songs. I’m just not pumped up by it.

30. Charles Mau: ‘Paradise City’ by Guns N’ Roses

I love the guitar in this one. There were just a lot of songs I liked better.

29. Riley Weatherwax: ‘Kickstart My Heart’ by Motley Crue

I’d be too busy pretending my bat was a guitar and thrashing my head instead of preparing for my at-bat. There is certainly no shortage of heavy metal in this song.

28. Skip Shenosky: ‘Save A Horse’ by Big & Rich

Good song. Even better title.

27. Carson Renner: ‘She’s Country’ by Jason Aldean

Jason Aldean knows how to crank up the energy. I like this one more than most of the other country songs.

26. Ryan Weingartner: ‘On One Tonight’ by Gunna

I’m a huge Gunna fan, and while I have this song in one of my playlists, there were many better tracks of his to pick. However, I am glad to see some rap being represented.

25. Cole Wagner: ‘Old Time Rock & Roll’ by Bob Seger

Another great song that doesn’t translate to a walk-up jam. I want this to be playing from a jukebox in a diner while I eat pancakes, not while I’m stepping into the batter box to face a high and tight fastball.

24. Jack Porter: ‘Santeria’ by Sublime

This one is more suited for chilling on the beach on a hot summer day. Not so much a walk-up song.

23. Paxton Kling: ‘One Last Breath’ by Creed

I was hoping I’d see a Creed song on the list. No complaints here.

22. Patrick Graham: ‘Cowgirls’ by Morgan Wallen

The beat is unique for a country song, but I’d rather avoid thinking about romantic partners on my way to the plate. Save being in your feels for after the game, Patrick.

21. Harrison Lollin: ‘Alive (Nightmare)’ by Kid Cudi

While Kid Cudi and baseball don’t necessarily mesh, this works because of the instrumental and motivational lyrics.

20. Jake Haarde: ‘Your Heart Or Mine’ by Jon Pardi

I love Jon Pardi, but he undoubtedly has better songs. This would rank higher if it weren’t a slower love song. I need to have a killer instinct at the plate, not hearts popping out of my eyes.

19. Joe Jaconski: ‘Evacuate The Dance Floor’ by Cascada

This is an electric selection from Joe Jaconski. If this doesn’t get the crowd up on their feet, I don’t know what will.

18. Brendan Gardner: ‘Loaded’ by Lil Uzi Vert

Lil Uzi has so many elite options for walk-up songs, this one included. Imagine the bases are full, and you step into the batter’s box to Lil Uzi saying “loaded” over and over again. You simply have no choice but to hit a grand slam out of the park.

17. Chase Renner: ‘Fireman’ by Lil Wayne

The fire alarm in the instrumental, combined with the unmatched wordplay from Wheezy, is a chef’s kiss.

16. Tyler Rowling: ‘So Fresh, So Clean’ by OutKast

There is an undeniable swagger to anything by OutKast, but I don’t think this song gets the juices flowing as much as the ones ahead of it.

15. Mike Lucarelli: ‘White Horse’ by Chris Stapleton

Yet another heavy guitar presence, but what separates “White Horse” from the others is Chris Stapleton’s unmatched country vocals. Man, can that guy sing.

14. Alec Warden: ‘Again’ by Fetty Wap

I know I complained about love songs for walk-up tunes, but that doesn’t apply to Fetty Wap. Is it unconventional? Yes. Let’s just pretend the “you” Fetty Wap addresses in the song isn’t a girl and instead a base hit. “Base hit, I need youuuuu.”

13. Brandon Wingenroth: ‘Quintana, Part 2’ by Travis Scott

Travis Scott and autotune are like Pablo Picasso and paint. The distorted voice in the intro and outro brings a dark element that all the other songs lack. Even though the song slows down at certain parts, this is such an underrated selection from Wingenroth.

12. Will Andrews: ‘Turbulence’ by Steve Aoki

Now we’re talking. This song got me hype while sitting at my desk writing this. Lil John screaming “WE HIT TURBULENCE,” right before the beat drop is absolutely electric.

11. Mason Horwat: ‘Pocketful Of Sunshine’ by Natasha Bedingfield

Baseball can be a frustrating sport. Mason Horwat has to deal with the ups and downs of both pitching and hitting, so I don’t blame him for picking such a happy, positive jam.

10. Matthew VanOstenbridge: ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ by Guns N’ Roses

“Do you know where you are?” “You’re in Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, baby!” I’m concerned this one might get me a little TOO amped up. One bad call, and I might take a swing at the ump.

9. Ryan DeSanto: ‘Can’t Stop’ by The Red Hot Chili Peppers

This is a perfect walk-up song. The lyrics are oozing with motivation. After a quick listen to this jam, I’d run through a brick wall.

8. Mason Butash: ‘Timeless’ by The Weeknd

The heavenly intro, the beat drop, the vocals from the Weeknd. It checks all the boxes for an elite walk-up song.

7. Derek Cease: ‘The Sweet Escape’ by Gwen Stefani

“WOO HOO, YEE HOO!”

6. Nate Voss: ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ by Shakira

It’s common knowledge that a majority of the torque that is generated during the swinging of a baseball bat comes from the hips. This classic from Shakira serves as an intimidation factor toward opposing pitchers, warning them that Nate Voss’ hips don’t lie.

5. Bryce Molinaro: ‘Paparazzi’ by Lady Gaga

We love a man secure enough in his masculinity to blast Lady G during his walk to the plate. I love this pick from the infielder.

4. Connor Throneberry: ‘Rockstar’ by Nickelback

The buildup in this song makes for an elite choice. It offers a perfect blend of hard-hitting drums, heavy guitar strums, and some slightly trashy lyrics from Nickelback.

3. Matt Maloney: ‘Powerglide’ by Rae Sremmurd

Anything by Rae Sremmurd is good in my book. The back-and-forth flow from Swae Lee and Slim Jimmy never fails to get you locked in.

2. Logan Olson: ‘Where Have You Been’ by Rihanna

It was hard not to give Logan Olson and RiRi the No. 1 spot. This track is sure to turn the ballpark into an early 2010s nightclub with its pulsing synths and beat drop.

1. Anthony Steele: ‘Yamborghini High’ by A$AP Mob

It’s no surprise that the pitcher with a flamethrower for an arm chose this as his walk-up song. Every time I hear this track, I feel like I’m going 200 miles per hour in a Lamborghini, as the title suggests.
