Report: Former Rutgers Guard Kiyomi McMiller Transfers To Lady Lions

Former Rutgers Guard Kiyomi McMiller has committed to transfer to Penn State women’s basketball, according to On3’s Talia Goodman. McMiller was a five-star recruit coming out of high school by ESPN.

McMiller, a rising sophomore from Silver Spring, Maryland, played in 21 games last season with the Scarlet Knights, starting 19 of them. During the 2024-25 season, McMiller averaged 18.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and three assists while shooting 41.5% from the field.

McMiller racked up many accolades during her freshman campaign, earning back-to-back Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors. She was recognized on a national scale as the USBWA Tamika Catchings freshman of the Week and also picked up an ALL-MET Player of the Week honors. Her play landed her on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Midseason Watchlist, highlighting her as one of the nation’s top freshmen.

McMiller had some off-court issues at Rutgers, which included a two-game coach’s suspension last season. She also posted on her Instagram page that she would not play a game against USC based on a decision made by her head coach, Coquese Washington, a former Lady Lions’ head coach. She followed up that post with screenshots of articles criticizing the subsequent blowout loss to the Trojans.
