[Photo Story] Lion Ambassadors Host Old Main Bell Tower Tours

Ever wonder what it’s like to climb Old Main’s bell tower?

On Monday, the Lion Ambassadors hosted their annual Old Main bell tower tours. These tours give students and patrons alike a chance to climb Old Main’s iconic bell tower and learn some history along the way.

Let’s look at the event through some of our favorite pictures from the day.

Monday was one of the first warm days of the year in State College, painting a beautiful backdrop for views of campus.

Penn State’s Lion Ambassadors hosted an event outside Old Main, with free cookies and pizza as well as entertainment like cornhole, caricatures, and balloon animals.

It was clear that with the beautiful weather, all were enjoying the afternoon at Old Main.

Students lined up around the corner waiting for their free tour.

The tour began on the front steps of Old Main, with Lion Ambassadors portraying various historical Penn State figures.

The tour then moved inside, letting guests admire Old Main’s historic fresco paintings.

Students then made their way up the tight staircase to the tower.

The view from the tower is pretty sweet, with 360-degree views of most of the campus.

The balcony also provided an up-close look at the famous Old Main clockface.
