Penn State Football Announces 2025 Blue-White Rosters & Format

The Blue-White Game is just around the corner, folks. Penn State football announced its rosters and format for the annual spring game on Saturday morning.

Penn State’s roster seems to be evenly separated among presumed starters and reserves, with the starters repping the blue uniforms. Brian Kortovich and Gabriel Nwosu are the only Nittany Lions that will don both jerseys. Kortovich is listed as the long snapper for the Blue Team and as a tight end for the White Team, while Nwosu headlines as a member of both sides’ special teams units.

Blue Team

Penn State’s Blue Team consists of a majority of Penn State’s big names alongside some big transfers from the winter window.

Drew Allar gets the Blue Team quarterback nod as both Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen highlight the running backs selections. Wide receiver transfers Kyron Hudson and Devonte Ross will get their first action in Beaver Stadium as members of the Blue Team. Luke Reynolds, Tyler Warren’s presumed replacement, also gets the Blue Team nod alongside Khalil Dinkins.

The Blue Team defense also holds a majority of presumed Penn State starters for next season, as well. Dom DeLuca and Tony Rojas highlight the linebacker group. Rojas is rostered for the game despite battling an injury and not being present at spring practice. Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zuriah Fisher, and Enai White headline the Blue Team edge rushers as Penn State enters its first year without Abdul Carter. A.J. Harris, Zion Tracy, and Zakee Wheatley will lead the Blue Team in the defensive backs group.

The Blue Team is also a force on both sides of the line. The offensive line is led by established starters Nick Dawkins, Anthony Donkoh, Olaivavega Ioane, and Drew Shelton. Cooper Cousins gets the Blue Team nod, who is the leading candidate for a starting spot with Sal Wormley’s departure. Liam Andrews, Ty Blanding, Zane Durant, Alonzo Ford Jr., and Xavier Gilliam round out the defensive line.

The Blue Team will have defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki on the sideline, as well as wide receivers coach Marques Hagans.

White Team

White Team members will aim to stamp a good impression for the crowd on Saturday afternoon.

Quarterbacks Ethan Grunkemeyer, Jack Lambert, and Jaxon Smolik will all don the white jerseys in tandem with running backs Amiel Davis, Tyler Holzworth, and Corey Smith. Tyseer Denmark, Anthony Ivey, Peter Gonzalez, and Ethan Cunningham pop out as wide receiver selections.

On defense, the White Team most notably has Lavar Arrington II in the linebacker group. Max Granville and and Jordan Mayer headline the defensive ends, who could be in play for a starting job in the fall. King Mack, Lamont Payne Jr., and Kenny Woseley Jr. will lead the defensive backs room. Knowles named Woseley as a possible option for the nickel spot in the secondary.

On the offensive line, Alex Berchmeier stands out as a player who could be fighting for a starting spot going into the season. On the defensive line, Kaleb Artis and Sam Siafa stick out as bigger Penn State names representing the White Team. Artis appeared in 11 games last season and looks to have a foot in the door for a titular spot on next season’s squad.

The White Team coaches are highlighted by tight ends coach Ty Howle, running backs coach Stan Drayton, and co-defensive coordinator Anthony Poindexter.

Format

This year’s format deviates from previous years. The 2025 edition will consist of:

  • The Blue Team on the home sideline and the White Team on the visitor’s sideline.
  • Four 11-minute quarters with a running clock.
  • A running clock on special teams.
  • Real-game timing in the final two minutes of each half.
  • Two 30-second timeouts for each team.
