[Photo Story] Threepeat: Onward State Once Again Conquers Daily Collegian In Dodgeball

This past Friday, tradition was upheld on the East Halls basketball court as our staff members participated in the annual Onward State vs. the Daily Collegian dodgeball game. This tradition began in the early 2010s and was hosted on and off until the spring of 2023, when it finally gained its footing. Ever since, our staffers have continuously led us to victory, this year being no exception.

The court was set, the rules were stated, and the champion was eventually crowned at the end of a best-of-five game series.

After a 2-0 lead, the Collegian forced a fourth game, but it was always Onward State as the blog sealed the 3-1 victory for the threepeat. Our photographers were on the ground at the East Halls dodgeball battlefield to capture the spectacle.

Collegian Editor-in-Chief Amy Schafer and Onward State Managing Editor Joe Lister acted as the referees, which, shockingly, didn’t go poorly. After a fiery pregame speech from Onward State’s own Nolan Wick, the blog was ready to roll.

Some moments were glorious.

Some were curious.

All throughout, spirits were high.

With a final shot by Ryan McInerney, Onward State clinched a 3-1 victory against the folks who are apparently still printing a newspaper.

The loss was handled graciously, and the Collegian took it in stride.

After much rejoicing, an Onward State vs. Onward State game was launched in celebration.

And now it’s back to business as usual — blogging, editing, and training for next year’s match.

Until next year, Collegian.
