XL Improv Festival To Return To Happy Valley May 15

The XL Improv Festival is returning to the Blue Brick Theatre for the fourth year in a row for a series of workshops and shows from May 15 through May 18, bringing in comedians from across the country. Shows will run from 6 to 10 p.m. nightly.

Hosted by Happy Valley Improv, the festival will feature workshops led by experienced improvisers, 12 comedy shows, campus tours, and scavenger hunts.

The workshops will cover a wide variety of topics, from working with scene partners to how to avoid planning in improv. Improvisers from Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Antonio, and Los Angeles will lead the classes.

“XL Fest gets bigger and bigger each year and brings more improvisers and enthusiastic audience members to the State College area,” Blue Brick Theatre stand-up comedy director and XL Fest co-organizer Tyler Jones said in a release. “We’re excited for another incredible festival of shows and workshops while showing off the best of Happy Valley.”

Happy Valley Improv is still recruiting business partnerships to help offset costs for the festival while receiving benefits such as logo placements in advertisements, social media, and email campaigns.

Audience members, as well as interested improvisers, can learn more on the theatre’s website.

Individual shows will cost $15 to $45, and festival passes are running for $99, with online fees, granting audience members access to all 12 shows. Folks can buy tickets here.
