Three-Star Linebacker Amare Campbell Transfers To Penn State Football

Three-star transfer portal linebacker Amare Campbell has committed to Penn State football from North Carolina, per the A&P Sports Agency. Campbell became the second transfer portal addition for the Nittany Lions in the spring window.

The Virginia native, who has two years of eligibility remaining, totaled 90 tackles, 7.5 sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble across two seasons with the Tar Heels. During the 2024 season, he tallied 76 tackles, 6.5 sacks, defended two passes, and forced his lone fumble.

247Sports ranked Campbell as the No. 252 overall player and the No. 8 linebacker in the portal. He stands at 6′ and 230 pounds.

The addition of Campbell gives the Nittany Lions defense another layer of depth at the linebacker position. With returning linebackers such as Tony Rojas and Dominic Deluca, defensive coordinator Jim Knowles will have a trio of experienced defensemen to work with at the second level.
