President Neeli Bendapudi To Miss Commencement While Receiving Medical Care

Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi is currently recovering from acute pancreatitis, according to a university spokesperson.

She will participate in this week’s Board of Trustees meeting remotely and will not be attending any commencements this weekend. It is unknown how long she will be out for, but it was confirmed that she has received medical care in connection.

“While she is recovering, her spirits are high and she is grateful for the support of the Penn State community,” the university said.

“While President Bendapudi unfortunately cannot attend ceremonies this year, as she must prioritize her recovery, senior academic leadership will preside over each ceremony, including the provost, senior vice president for research, and senior vice provost for undergraduate education.”
