Report: Penn State Football Defensive Analyst Torrence Brown To Join Western Illinois

Penn State football defensive analyst Torrence Brown has been hired by Western Illinois to become its new defensive line coach, according to a report from Football Scoop.

Brown played for Penn State from 2015-17 and recorded 52 tackles and two sacks during his time. However, he tore his ACL in his senior season and had to medically retire in 2018. He was granted an extra year of eligibility and moved to Southern Mississippi to play his final year. After that, he joined the staff at Eastern New Mexico before becoming a graduate assistant at Marshall.

In 2023, Brown went back to his alma mater as James Franklin hired him as a graduate assistant. In this role, he worked with defensive line coach Deion Barnes and the defensive line before he was promoted to defensive analyst earlier this offseason.

Penn State will now look for a new defensive analyst after Brown’s departure.
