Penn State men’s hockey added a 2025 NHL Draft prospect to its roster on Sunday afternoon, according to The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler.
Five-star recruit Jackson Smith will join the Nittany Lions as the third-highest rated defenseman on Central Scouting’s North American list. In the last ten games alone, he has notched five goals and two assists.
The Calgary native played for the Tri-City Americans in the WHL, playing 68 games in the 2024-25 season. The defenseman had 11 goals and 43 assists.
According to the NHL, he is predicted to be a first-round draft pick in this year’s NHL draft. He will join the new transfer defenseman Mac Gadowksy in Hockey Valley this fall.
