Right-Handed Pitcher Ben Hudson Transfers To Penn State Baseball

Former West Virginia baseball pitcher Ben Hudson has committed to Penn State baseball out of the transfer portal, he announced on Friday night. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

As a high school prospect, Hudson was ranked the No. 500 player nationally, No. 337 right-handed pitcher, and No. 31 player in New Jersey, according to Perfect Game. The Shawnee, New Jersey, native committed to West Virginia after a successful four years with Shawnee.

In his freshman season with the Mountaineers, the 6’2″ 180-pounder made one start in 18 appearances. Hudson was credited with three wins and one loss in those games, recording 30 strikeouts in 27.1 innings and having a 3.95 ERA.

The pitcher’s best game of the season was against Pitt, where he earned the win with five innings, allowing just one run and striking out four. He also earned a win against Kentucky in the NCAA Clemson Regional final.
