Penn State Football Opens As 4.5-Point Favorites Over Oregon In White Out Game

After three out-of-conference opponents and a bye week, Penn State will have one of its hardest tests of the season against Oregon on September 27 in the 2025 rendition of the White Out game. Despite being 88 days out from the Big Ten championship game rematch, FanDuel has opened its betting lines for the game.

Per the sports book, even with the Nittany Lions coming off an eight-point loss to the Ducks, Penn State is a 4.5-point favorite heading into the summer.

While the opening line does not affect the outcome of the game, there are some trends to keep an eye on. Since James Franklin took over, Penn State is 4-20 against Top 10 opponents. While there is no saying where teams will fall in the week five rankings, this game has a good chance of being a top 10 matchup.

Also important to note, though, is Franklin’s record against the spread in games he is favored in is 60–40–4, a solid .600 success rate. The head coach has also emphasized this off-season the importance of winning the big games.

FanDuel also released the over/under at 52.5, a line that was smashed last season in a 45-37 bout. Oregon’s moneyline is set at +138, and Penn State’s at -166.

The Nittany Lions have faced the Ducks five times since 1960 and lead the series 3-2. Oregon, though, has won two of the last three meetings, including a win in the 2024 Big Ten Championship game and the one at Beaver Stadium in 1964.
