Penn State Baseball Pitcher Ryan DeSanto Drafted No. 372 Overall By Cleveland Guardians

Penn State Baseball has sent another one of its members to The Show, as left-handed pitcher Ryan DeSanto was selected No. 372 overall by the Cleveland Guardians in the 12th round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
DeSanto becomes the third Nittany Lion to be selected in the 2025 MLB Draft, joining teammates Ryan Weingartner and Paxton Kling. He is the first pitcher to be selected from the program since 2023.
In his junior season with the Nittany Lions, DeSanto made 15 starts and finished with an 8-2 record (5-2 Big Ten) and a 3.96 ERA. Across his 72.2 innings, the Frederick, Maryland native, accumulated 72 strikeouts, with eight outings of five or more strikeouts. Overall, the lefty allowed just 54 hits and held opponents to a .202 batting average.
Across the Big Ten, DeSanto ranked second in starts, third in hits allowed per nine innings with 6.44, and seventh in WHIP at 1.13. DeSanto’s 6.44 hits allowed per nine innings ranks him 34th nationally. As a trusty arm for the Nittany Lions, his 15 starts also rank him 16th nationally.
DeSanto was most recently one of three Nittany Lions named to the ABCA All-Region Second Team.
Prior to Penn State, DeSanto spent his first two seasons at Saint Joseph’s, where he made a combined 28 appearances for 133.2 innings. Across his freshman and sophomore seasons, the left-hander gained 162 strikeouts.
The junior has one year of eligibility left, and may choose to forego his senior season to sign with the Guardians or return to Happy Valley for his final season.
