Three Penn State Football Players Named To Big Ten Players To Watch List

Penn State football’s Drew Allar, Nick Singleton, and Dani Dennis-Sutton were given preseason honors as Big Ten players to watch, the conference announced during its first day of Big Ten Football Media Days on Tuesday.
Seven programs in the conference were represented in the list, with Ohio State and Penn State leading the way with three players each.
Allar is coming off his best season as a Nittany Lion in 2024, where he threw for 3,327 yards and 24 touchdowns on 394 attempts. The quarterback has consistently been ranked as a top-five returning signal caller in the country this offseason, including by PFF. Luke Altmyer, Illinois quarterback, joins Allar as the only two quarterbacks on the list.
Singleton is in a similar situation to Allar, widely thought of as a top returner in his position. The Shillington, Pennsylvania, native ran for 1,099 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2024 while adding another 375 yards in the air. Heading into 2025, the sole running back on the Big Ten preseason honors list is just 1,021 rushing yards away from breaking Evan Royster’s Penn State career rushing yards record/
The only defensive player to make the list for the Nittany Lions was Dennis-Sutton. The edge rusher flew under the radar last year, with Abdul Carter receiving most of the coverage, but is primed for a big year in the spotlight heading into 2025. In the final three games of the season, Dennis-Sutton had 16 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and an interception. A hot streak he will look to continue heading into this season.
The preseason honors come just days after four Nittany Lions made PFF’s Top 50 college football player rankings.
“Using PFF’s exclusive data and grading, we’ve identified the most dominant and valuable players in the country, based not on hype but on proven production and projection,” PFF said.
The Penn State players on the list are Allar (22nd overall and fourth quarterback), Singleton (31st overall and second running back), Zane Durant (39th overall and second defensive tackle), and Dennis-Sutton (48th overall and ninth edge rusher). The Nittany Lions’ four players are the most in the Big Ten.
