Former Penn State Hockey Forward Alex Limoges Set To Join HC Dynamo Minsk

Former Penn State hockey player Alex Limoges is set to join HC Dynamo Minsk from the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), the Hershey Bears, his former team, announced on Thursday.

Limoges joins Dynamo Minsk after spending his first five years out of college in the AHL. He spent his most recent two years with Hershey, where he scored 41 goals and 54 assists in 115 games with the Bears. The Winchester, Virginia, native also won the Calder Cup with Hershey in the 2023-24 season. The Calder Cup is the AHL’s version of the Stanley Cup.

Before his return to the Keystone State, Limoges played two seasons with the San Diego Gulls, scoring 34 goals and 27 assists. He also spent one year with the Manitoba Moose, where he scored 20 goals and added 34 assists in 63 games.

While with the Nittany Lions, the forward played four seasons, including one as the captain of the team. Limoges left the program as one of the most successful players in its history, recording the most points per game (.8) and ranked third all-time with 125 points.

Penn State men’s hockey has gained a lot of traction this offseason with the additions of Gavin McKenna and Jackson Smith, but none of that would have been possible without the likes of Limoges carrying the torch in the past.

The team Limoges is set to join, HC Dinamo Minsk, is a professional ice hockey club based in Minsk, Belarus, and a part of the Tarasov Division in the KHL. The team does not have a storied history, making the playoffs just four times since the team’s inclusion into the league in 2008. They have never moved on to the second round.
