Penn State Football Quarterback Drew Allar Named To Manning Award Watch List

Penn State football quarterback Drew Allar was named to the Manning Award watchlist, the All-State Sugar Bowl announced on Thursday.

The Manning Award is presented annually to the best quarterback, as judged by the Sugar Bowl committee, in college football. It is the only quarterback award that includes the signal callers’ performance in their bowl game.

Since the inception of the award in 2004, coincidentally, the year Allar was born, names like Johnny Manziel, Vince Young, Tim Tebow, and Cam Newton have won the award.

Allar comes into the 2025 season largely regarded as the best quarterback in the Big Ten and one of the best in the entire country. After throwing for 3,327 yards and 24 touchdowns a year ago, an immensely improved receiver room should allow for the Nittany Lion to put up even greater stats.
