Penn State Women’s Soccer Star Kaitlyn MacBean Named To MAC Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List

Penn State women’s soccer star Kaitlyn MacBean was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy preseason watch list, the United Soccer Coaches organization announced on Thursday.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club to the National Player of the Year, as determined by the voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. It is the highest individual honor a collegiate soccer player can receive.

MacBean earns the honor of making the watch list after three ultra-successful seasons with the Nittany Lions. In her last 45 collegiate starts, the forward has scored 26 goals and added eight assists for 60 points.

In the 2024 season, the Excelsior, Minnesota, native continued the storied success of the women’s soccer program in Happy Valley, becoming he 22nd woman in Penn State program history to be named a United Soccer Coaches All-American and extending PSU’s streak of 31 consecutive seasons with a First Team All-Big Ten selection.

The 15 semifinalists for the award will be announced on December 2 after NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, the nation’s coaches will vote on a winner to be announced on January 9, 2026.

MacBean and the Nittany Lions begin their 2025 campaign on Thursday, August 14, at 7 p.m. against No. 4 Duke in North Carolina.
