Penn State Football Announces 2025 Team Captains

Only two weeks out, folks.

Before the 2025 campaign, Penn State football announced the 2025 team captains Saturday. Dominic Deluca, Drew Allar, Zane Durant, Nick Dawkins, and Tyler Duzansky will lead the Nittany Lions this season.

Deluca, a Pennsylvania native and former run-on, will be entering his last season eligibility. As a redshirt senior, Deluca has served as a captain since the 2023 season. Last season, Deluca was a force as a linebacker, tallying 40 tackles and three interceptions, including a pick six in the College Football Playoffs against SMU.

Allar is also entering his last season with the Nittany Lions. As a second-year captain, the quarterback is ready to make a big leap with the Nittany Lions as a senior. Last season, Allar was responsible for 3,327 passing yards and 24 touchdowns with a 66.5 completion percentage. On the ground, Allar had 302 yards and six touchdowns.

Durant, a senior and Florida native, held his own on a competitive defensive line for the Nittany Lions. Starting in all 16 games last season, Durant put together a successful campaign with 42 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, three sacks, and a pass breakup. He was named the coaching staff’s Defensive Player of the Game three times for his efforts against Bowling Green, Illinois, and Minnesota.

Dawkins enters his sixth and final season as a Nittany Lion. Dawkins will serve as a captain for the second consecutive season as an anchor to Penn State’s offensive line. Last season, the Allentown native started all 16 games and only allowed two sacks. He was the recipient of the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy which is presented to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field.

Duzansky, a redshirt senior, is set to be a leader on special teams for the Nittany Lions. He appeared in all 16 games last season as Penn State’s starting long snapper where he earned All-Big Ten third team by the media and honorable mention for the same honor by the coaches. He also earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades.
