Former Penn State Football Star Micah Parsons Traded To Green Bay Packers, Signs Record-Breaking Contract

Former Penn State football linebacker Micah Parsons has been traded to the Green Bay Packers from the Dallas Cowboys, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

He also signed a four-year, $188 million contract, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, clearing Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher TJ Watt by $6 million per year. The Cowboys received defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks in return.

Parsons requested a trade from the Cowboys on August 1, citing prolonged disputes with the organization over a contract extension. The former Penn Stater gets $136 million fully guaranteed at signing and is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in history.

Parsons’ four-year career as a Cowboy saw him quickly rise to superstardom, winning a unanimous Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2021 and securing three All-Pro selections. It was clear Dallas didn’t want to pull the trigger on a big extension for Parsons, which now sends him up north to Green Bay.

Parsons called Happy Valley home for two seasons in 2018 and 2019, tabbing 192 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and six forced fumbles.

Parsons joins Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley as former Penn Staters who are now the highest-paid NFL player at their respective position.
