Penn State Football Remains Heavy Favorites Over Villanova In Week Three

After shutting out Florida International, Penn State football will play its final non-conference game against Villanova at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 13.

This is the Nittany Lions’ final game before they head into their first bye week of the season. Penn State will look to be 3-0 for the fifth consecutive year with a matchup against No. 4 Oregon looming.

The opening line against Villanova has been set at -48.5 points in the Nittany Lions’ favor, with the over/under listed at 55.5 points, according to FanDuel. It’s worth noting that the sportsbook is not currently accepting any bets on the game’s money line or outright winner.

Even though Penn State hasn’t covered the spread in its first two games of the season, it’s very possible against the Wildcats. Villanova has only played one game this season, against Colgate, and won by seven.

With that in mind, Penn State scored 63 points the last time it played an FCS opponent. Expect Penn State’s offense to play much better than last week and put up a lot of points as it looks to head into the bye week with some momentum.

As we head into week three of the 2025 season, the Nittany Lions are +650 to win the national championship, trailing only the defending national champions, Ohio State, at +600.
