Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week Two Roundup

Another week of action-packed NFL football has passed, with plenty of Penn State alumni taking the field for their respective teams. Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions whacked the Villanova Wildcats 52-6 on Saturday in Beaver Stadium.

Let’s see how some former Penn State favorites fared in their second week of the season.

Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles

Running back Saquon Barkley rushed for 88 yards on 22 carries, averaging 4 yards per attempt in Philadelphia’s 20-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Barkley hit pay dirt at the end of the first quarter. He also hauled in two receptions for six yards in the Super Bowl LIX rematch.

Micah Parsons, Green Bay Packers

Micah Parsons got into the Commanders’ backfield, recording half a sack against quarterback Jayden Daniels in the Packers’ 27-18 victory over Washington on Thursday Night Football. He also managed to record two total tackles in primetime.

Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts

Tight end Tyler Warren showed out in the Colts’ 29-28 victory over the Broncos on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. The rookie snagged four receptions for 79 yards on seven targets against Denver, helping Indianapolis advance to 2-0 on the season.

Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars

Wide receiver Parker Washington led his team in receiving with 76 yards in the Jaguars’ 31-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

Pat Friermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

Former Penn State tight end Pat Friermuth recorded a solid outing in the Steelers’ 31-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Friermuth tallied a modest 31 yards on three receptions.

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

Tight end Juwan Johnson was productive in the Saints’ 26-21 loss to San Francisco. The former Penn State product caught five passes for 49 yards while hauling in a touchdown in the second quarter from Spencer Rattler.

Jaquan Brisker, Chicago Bears

Defensive back Jaquan Brisker had his hands full in Chicago’s 52-21 loss to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. The former Penn State safety accounted for nine total tackles in the Bears’ secondary on Sunday.

Mitchell Tinsley, Cincinnati Bengals

Wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley didn’t have an eye-catching day on the stat sheet, but it didn’t stop him from making a jaw-dropping touchdown catch in the Bengals’ 31-27 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Chop Robinson, Miami Dolphins

Defensive end Chop Robinson tallied his first sack of the season as the Dolphins fell to the Patriots 33-27 at Gillette Stadium. Robinson also tallied two total tackles against the Patriots.

Miles Sanders, Dallas Cowboys

Running back Miles Sanders got into the endzone in the Cowboys’ narrow 40-37 over the New York Giants. Sanders saw five rushing attempts and averaged 3 yards per carry, while splitting the backfield with Javonte Williams.

  • Abdul Carter recorded one tackle in the New York Giants’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
  • Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. recorded one tackle in the Steelers’ 31-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
  • Tight end Mike Gesicki hauled in three receptions in the Bengals’ 31-27 victory over the Jaguars.
  • Linebacker Arnold Ebiketie amassed two total tackles in the Atlanta Falcons’ 22-6 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football.
  • Safety Nick Scott recorded three tackles in Carolina’s 27-22 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
  • Tight end Theo Johnson caught four passes for 34 yards in the Giants’ loss.
