Penn State Football Punter Gabriel Nwosu Named To Ray Guy Award Watch List

Penn State football punter Gabriel Nwosu was named to the Ray Guy Award watchlist, it was announced on Tuesday.

The redshirt senior makes the list after averaging 48.6 yards per punt in the Nittany Lions’ first three games of the season. All five of his punts have landed within the 20-yard line, including one that went for 67 yards.

At the start of the season, Riley Thompson, Penn State’s punter from 2024, was named to the list, but after a fabulous spring and fall camp from Nwosu, he lost his starting job.

“Gabe, you know, he’s special,” Franklin said. “He’s the closest thing to Jordan Stout that we’ve had here. His A ball was always probably as good as we’ve ever had here.”

Nwosu and the rest of the Nittany Lions take this week off, but will face off against Oregon in the 2025 edition of the White Out game at 7:30 p.m. on September 27. Folks at home can watch the greatest show in college sports on NBC.
