Center For The Performing Arts To Host Third Annual Move Mix Festival September 25

The Center for the Performing Arts will host its third annual Move Mix Festival on September 25 at the Eisenhower Auditorium. The free event will be a community block party-style event with an invite for everyone to experience international jazz music and local dance performances.

The Move Mix festival will feature a performance from the Mohamed Abozekry Sextet and a Move Mix: Join the Mojah Movement dance performance.

Mohamed Abozekry is an Egypt-born oud prodigy and world-versed musician in the intersection of Arabic modality, Middle Eastern classical music, and international jazz fusion. He leads his sextet in a performance of contemporary compositions paired with his vocal melodies.

Kikora Franklin, a dance professor in the Penn State School of Theatre, will join Mojah Dance Theatre of Atlanta for their performance. Mojah is a celebratory, stylish blend of modern, jazz, and West African dance techniques.

The event will have a variety of food and drinks available for purchase at food trucks around the outside of the auditorium. There will be limited seating available, but those who wish can bring their own folding lawn chair.

Although the event is free, registration is required and can be done here. More information on the festival can be found here.
