Abbott & Big Ten Team Up For Second Annual ‘We Give Blood Drive’

Abbott and the Big Ten have once again partnered up for the second annual “We Give Blood” drive competition, the conference announced on Friday.

The competition to collect the most blood donations through December 5 features all 18 Big Ten Conference universities.

The top-donating institution will be crowned at the Big Ten Football Championship on December 6 and will receive $1 million to advance student or community health.

To kick off the drive, Penn State will go head-to-head with Oregon in a “weekly one-up” challenge, a mini competition between schools with hopes of capitalizing on rivalries and school spirit. The university with the most donations by 11:59 p.m. on September 26 will be announced as the “weekly one-up” winner during the Penn State White Out game against the Ducks on Saturday, September 27.

Penn State students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to donate blood anywhere across America or at six upcoming drives on the University Park campus, starting on September 29 in the business building through November 11 in Alumni Hall.

To make your donation count toward Penn State’s total, folks must submit a record of their donation at BigTen.Org/Abbott or by texting “DONATE” to ABBOTT (222688). Those who log their donation can receive an exclusive, limited-time Penn State t-shirt.
