Penn State Football Remains Heavy Favorite Over UCLA In Week Six

Cue up “On the Road Again,” by Willie Nelson, folks.
After a gut-wrenching White Out loss to Oregon, Penn State will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the UCLA Bruins at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 4.
This will be the first time in history that both teams will face each other in the Rose Bowl Stadium. The Nittany Lions will look to pick up their first win in Big Ten play as they try to rebound from last week’s loss.
The opening line against UCLA has been set at -24.5 points in the Nittany Lions’ favor, with the over/under listed at 48.5 points, according to DraftKings. The money line is in favor of Penn State at -2400, while UCLA is a +1200 underdog.
Despite the Nittany Lions not covering a spread yet this season, they might finally break that streak against the Bruins. While UCLA is 1-3 against the spread this season, they are going through a lot of turmoil right now as they’re winless through four games and fired the head coach less than a month ago. Penn State has also won its last six games on the road, dating back to last season, according to OddsShark.
Even though Penn State’s win streak as a favorite ended at 15 due to last week’s loss, they still have a high winning record in the Big Ten under James Franklin. In his 11 years at Penn State, he has a 64-33 record in Big Ten games and hasn’t lost back-to-back games since 2021. For those reasons, expect Penn State to get its frustration out after last week’s loss against UCLA by dominating both sides of the ball.
As we head into week six of the 2025 season, the Nittany Lions are +800 to win the national championship, tied with Texas at those odds. However, it now trails Alabama at +750, Oregon at +550, and the defending national champions, Ohio State, at +500.
