Penn State Football Brings Back White Collars For ‘Generations Of Greatness’ Uniforms

Penn State football is set to bring back white colors on the blue “Generations of Greatness” uniforms for Homecoming against Northwestern on Saturday.

The white-collar community helped the Nittany Lions’ jerseys become some of the most recognizable in the country during the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Players such as LaVar Arrington, Ki-Jana Carter, and Kerry Collins can be seen rocking the iconic jersey throughout their whole careers.

“People are really going to enjoy seeing it again,” Penn State’s promotional video said.

The jersey will also continue to have the white outlines on the arm sleeve holes. Another change, though, is the center logo. Rather than the traditional Nittany Lion head, the jersey will boast an older Nittany Lion logo similar to that of the Lion Shrine.

Penn State wore its “Generation of Greatness” jersey combination in two games in the 2024 season. The first was against Illinois in the “White Out Energy” game that resulted in a 21-7 victory. The second time was in the first-ever playoff White Out against SMU. The Nittany Lions won 38-10.

James Franklin and company will take on Northwestern on Saturday. It’s the first time since the 2010 season Penn State will not have a Power Four victory before October 10.

Northwestern is 3-2 this season, with wins over UCLA, Western Illinois, and Louisiana Monroe.
