Penn State men’s and women’s hockey teams both had successful game series at Pegula Ice Arena. Men’s hockey went up against Stonehill, while women’s hockey took on Lindenwood.

Of course, our photographers were on the scene capturing all the ups and downs of the hard-fought games.

Our photographers got up close and personal with our Nittany Lions.

The Nittany Lions fought hard throughout.

After a slow first period for the women’s team, it put up 4 goals in the second period. The Nittany Lions finished up their first game of the series against Lindenwood with a 6-1 win.

The men’s team had a bit of a closer battle. Penn State scored the opening goal, but soon gave up a pair to Stonehill, changing the momentum of the game. Gavin McKenna scored a game-tying goal with a little less than 12 minutes left in the third period. Finally, JJ Wiebusch buried the game-winner on a power play with less than 30 seconds left.

Saturday, October 25

The Nittany Lions fought just as hard on Saturday.

The women’s team continued their success from Friday into Saturday. The Nittany Lions were dominant on offense, outshooting Lindenwood 52-18. They wrapped up their series with a 5-0 shutout.

The men’s team also continued their triumph in Saturday’s game. After a scoreless first period by both teams, Penn State recorded three goals before the end of the second period, going into the final period with a 3-1 lead. With a bit over 10 minutes left, Shea Van Olm scored, and the Nittany Lions were able to hold off the Skyhawks for the remainder of the game, sweeping the series.
