Penn State Wrestling’s Luke Lilledahl Named USA Wrestling Athlete Of The Week

Penn State wrestling sophomore Luke Lilledahl has been named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week after winning a gold medal at the U23 World Championships on Sunday.

Competing at 57 kilograms, Lilledahl finished the tournament with a 4-0 record, earning victories over Honghang Liao of China, Milad Valizadeh of Iran, Aiandai Ondar of UWW, and Yuta Kikuchi of Japan. He defeated Kikuchi 4-0 in the championship match to secure the title.

With the win, Lilledahl became the first American wrestler to earn world titles at the U17, U20, and U23 levels.

Lilledahl will now return to folkstyle wrestling for his second season with the Nittany Lions. In his freshman year, Lilledahl was the Big Ten Champion and took third place at the NCAA Championships at 125 pounds.
