Penn State Men’s Hockey’s JJ Wiebusch Named Big Ten Second Star Of The Week

Following a three-point weekend and sweep of Ohio State, JJ Wiebusch was awarded Big Ten Hockey Second Star of the Week. He was previously named First Star earlier this season. Penn State men’s hockey has accounted for weekly honors each of the past five weeks.

In the team’s Big Ten opening series in Columbus, Wiebusch tallied a power play goal in each game, in addition to recording a primary assist on Friday. The series finale marked the sixth time the sophomore has notched a multi-point game, leading the team.

The winger has been buzzing all season long on a line with Charlie Cerrato and Matt DiMarsico. Wiebusch currently leads the NCAA in goals with 11, in just 10 games played. He and Cerrato also lead the nation in points with 18 apiece. He has recorded at least one point in nine of the games this season. Wiebusch also has the most power-play goals and game-winning goals in the country, with six and three, respectively.

Penn State will take on No. 1 Michigan State this weekend at Munn Ice Arena beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 7. The game will air on Big Ten Plus.
