Your 2025 Guide To Friendsgiving Meals & Offers In State College

As Thanksgiving break approaches, Penn State students are once again coordinating their annual Friendsgiving celebrations.

The perfect mix of friends and food, Friendsgiving gives college friend groups a chance to come together before heading home for the holidays. Traditionally, it’s a Thanksgiving-style feast where everyone contributes a dish, but let’s be honest, not everyone is capable of cooking up a dish from scratch.

If your friend group falls into the culinarily-challenged department, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with meals and deals available in the State College area that can feed a crowd, ensuring stomachs are full and laughs are had.

KFC Family Deals

In the mood for Southern comfort food? Kentucky Fried Chicken, located on S. Atherton Street, offers over a dozen family meals. Folks can order finger-lickin’ good bone-in fried chicken in packs of eight, 12, or 16 along with two, three, or four sides, and four, six, or eight biscuits. KFC also offers family meals featuring their chicken tenders or nuggets, which also come with sides and biscuits. The meals range from $20 to $55.

Aldi Thanksgiving “Feast For 10”

For those who still want to cook their Friendsgiving dishes, but might need some easier recipes, Aldi has you covered with an unbeatable deal. The $40 Thanksgiving bundle includes a 14lb Jennie-O turkey and simple ingredients to make rolls, cranberry sauce, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. The Aldi website claims it can feed 10 people, averaging out to an extremely affordable four dollars per person. There are three Aldis within a 20-mile radius of State College, so get to shopping, folks!

Chick-Fil-A Family-Style Meals

Ignore this paragraph if your Friendsgiving happens to fall on a Sunday, but if not, another suggestion is none other than the beloved Chick-fil-A. The chicken chain offers three different family-style meals, with classic or grilled nuggets and Chick-n strips as the main options. Each meal comes with four sides, with waffle fries being the default option. However, mac and cheese, fruit cups, salads, soups, chips, and parfaits are available for substitution with an upcharge. To cap it off, the meals come with the choice of four cookies or four brownies. Each option will run you a reasonable $31.49 and is highly customizable, perfect for meeting everyone’s demands.

Cracker Barrel Family Meals

Another Southern comfort option, Cracker Barrel, offers nine family meal dinners. If you’re seeking breakfast for your Friendsgiving spread, the classic chain offers a pancake or Cracker Barrel classic family meal breakfast as well. The dinner options are grilled or fried tenders, pot roast, steak tips, meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, crispy homestyle chicken breast, and lastly, southern fried chicken, which is a Saturday and Sunday exclusive. Each entree comes with two classic sides and their famous biscuits. If you want a taste of multiple entrees, three of the nine options offer a combination of main dishes. The family meals range from $37.99 to $74.99, depending on your entree choice. State College’s very own Cracker Barrel is located at 215 Colonnade Blvd. Don’t forget to stop in the famous gift shop while picking up your order!

Olive Garden Family Bundles

Though it might not be the traditional route, everyone’s favorite casual Italian chain also has a few options to feed your Friendsgiving crew with. Olive Garden has two family-style lasagna meals, one that feeds six people for $58.99 and another that feeds 12 people for $89.99. Along with the lasagna, the bundles include a dozen or two dozen breadsticks, respectively, and the famous House salad. If your group isn’t a fan of lasagna, there are 13 individual pans of different entrees like fettuccine alfredo, chicken parmigiana, five-cheese ziti, and spaghetti to choose from. If you do select one of the individual pans, you can pair it with a soup and salad bundle that comes with breadsticks as well. It’s certainly more pricey than the other options, but I guarantee nobody will leave hungry!

Hibachi Express Party Trays

Who says you can’t have Japanese food for your Friendsgiving feast? Hibachi Express has a handful of “Party Trays” featuring Hibachi classics like chicken, shrimp, steak, yakisoba noodles, or sushi. Each tray includes fried rice, zucchini, onions, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, and salad. Located downtown, Hibachi Express accepts online orders, serving as a quick and easy crowd-pleaser.
