Four-Star Tight End Pierce Petersohn Flips From Penn State Football To Virginia Tech

The Thanksgiving recruiting fun has tripled.
Penn State class of 2026 four-star tight end commit Pierce Petersohn has flipped his commitment to Virginia Tech, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Petersohn committed to the Nittany Lions in June.
The 6’5″, 195-pounder is ranked as the No. 2 player in Minnesota, No. 16 tight end in the class of 2026, and the No. 325 player nationally, per 247Sports’ Composite rankings. The Dodge Center, Minnesota, native originally chose Penn State over Minnesota after taking official visits to both schools.
The aftermath of James Franklin’s firing ultimately led to Petersohn reopening his recruitment. His homecoming to Minnesota seemed inevitable, but Franklin picked up steam in the recruiting sphere once he was hired by Virginia Tech.
Petersohn is the third former Penn State commit to flip to the Hokies today, joining Roseby Lubintus and Marlen Bright.
