Two Penn State Women’s Hockey Players Earn AHA Monthly Honors

Penn State women’s hockey’s Tessa Janecke and Katie DeSa have both been named AHA players of the month for the second time this season.

Janecke was awarded AHA Forward of the Month for the eighth time in her career. During November, she recorded 11 points in just seven games, which led all Nittany Lions players. She also hit the 100 career assist milestone and tied the program career goal record at 74 this month.

DeSa has now won Goaltender of the Month for the fifth time in her career. She recorded two shutouts and went 6-1 during November. She is now just the second goalie in program history to reach 50 career wins. She leads the NCAA and conference in many statistics, including shutouts and goalie win percentage.

The success of the blue and white’s stars has propelled Penn State women’s hockey into its highest ranking in program history at No. 4.

The Nittany Lions look to continue their dominant season after the midseason break. They play their next game at home on Tuesday, December 30, against Cornell.
