Four-Star Safety Matt Sieg Flips From Penn State Football To West Virginia

Four-star safety Matt Sieg has flipped his commitment from Penn State to West Virginia, On3’s Hayes Fawcett announced on Wednesday.

Sieg committed to the Nittany Lions in November 2024 and was one of the pillar pieces of the now torn-apart 2026 recruiting class. A recruiting class that was once in the top-15 is now down to just three players and ranked No. 134 in the country, per 247Sports.

The McDonald, Pennsylvania, native ranks as the No. 5 player in the state, No. 16 safety, and No. 179 player nationally, according to 247Sports composite rankings. Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Pitt all made strong pushes to flip the safety, but it was the Mountaineers who got the job done.

Sieg joins another former Penn State commit, Kevin Brown, in Morgantown.
