Penn State Women’s Volleyball Earns Three Spots On AVCA All-East Coast Region Team

Gillian Grimes, Kennedy Martin, and Maggie Mendelson were named to the AVCA All-East Coast Region Team, the team announced Tuesday.
Senior Gillian Grimes receives her first All-East Coast Regional Team selection after recording 441 digs and 30 aces on the season, and being named Big Ten Libero of the Year. Following her collegiate career, she is set to continue her volleyball career at the pro level with the San Diego Mojo of the Major Volleyball League. She is the first Penn State libero to be named to the team since Jenna Hampton in 2021.
Senior middle blocker Maggie Mendelson also received her first All-East Coast Regional Team selection after recording a hitting average of .363 with 2.91 kills per set and leading the team with 91 blocks. Her recognition dates back to back-to-back years of middle blocker selections from the Penn State program.
After switching regions from Florida to Penn State, Kennedy Martin also earned her first East Coast Regional Team selection. Prior to joining the Nittany Lions, she had been selected to the All-Southeast Region Team twice with the Gators. The right side earns the honor after breaking program records in kills with 634, kills per set with 5.42, points with 728, and points per set with 6.22. She adds this accolade to her first-team All-Big Ten selection and becomes the first right side named to the team since Jonni Parker in 2021.
Each of these Nittany Lions propelled Penn State to its 45th-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance this year.
