Report: Penn State Football Strength & Conditioning Coach Chuck Losey To Take Same Role At Virginia Tech

Penn State football’s strength and conditioning coach, Chuck Losey, is following former head coach James Franklin to Virginia Tech, per 247Sports’ Kolby Crawford.

Losey, whose official title at Penn State was “Assistant Athletics Director for Football Performance Enhancement,” has been in the lead strength coaching role since January 2022, taking over for Dwight Galt III. He’s been with the Nittany Lions since 2014, previously as both the assistant and associate director of performance enhancement over his first eight seasons.

Prior to his time at Penn State, Losey was an assistant strength coach for Vanderbilt under Franklin from 2011 to 2013. He spent seven seasons before that at FCS Tennessee State as the director of speed, strength, and conditioning.

Losey went viral several times over the years for his iconic handlebar mustache. That fashionable look wasn’t his only accomplishment, as he routinely generated athletic freaks out of Penn State, with the Nittany Lions often populating the yearly “Freaks” list by The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman.
